Something a little bit different today. I was in the mood for a challenge, and decided to play along with the current Photo Inspiration challenge over on the Mama Elephant blog. Here’s the photo inspiration:
From my point of view, I saw a lot of white and some blue watercolor hues, and texture. So I started creating and ended up with something completely different than I had in mind – isn’t that how it almost always goes? I’m not completely satisfied, most of all about how the blue turned out. But on the other hand that’s what I had on hand.
I started out by watercoloring the background. I brushed some water onto my white cardstock, and then added really small amounts of Heirloom Blue Mr. Huey with my brush. I splattered Clay Mr. Huey on top after drying. Two vellum circles were sewn directly onto the background, one of them I first embossed with Tim Holtz’ Bubble embossing folder.
Since I didn’t have the right ink to stamp the sentiment, I chose to kind of mix up two colors. I inked my stamp with Broken China distress ink, stamped it off onto a bit of print paper, and then inked the my stamp again with Aqua dye ink without cleaning it in between. It gives a subtle mixture of both colors, which matched with my background color. The lighter feathers behind the sentiment were also stamped off one time onto a piece of print paper for this softer look.
Anyways, it was fun to take part in a challenge again. It’s been way too long ago. Thanks for stopping by!
Els.

Well, if I got this card in the mail, I’d be REALLY happy…I think it looks great….especially loving the textured circle & clever you, doing the stamping like that…very lateral thinking:) It’s a NICE challenge photo to work off, too —nothing like a challenge to get you onto something different, I reckon:):)
