The Weekend Guest | Mary-Ann Maldonado

The Weekend Guest 2015

I know, I’m checking in rather late today. We spent the day at Plopsaland. Boy, I can barely feel my feet and back anymore;) But we had an amazing day. Lots of adventures, giggles, and rides.

Onto today’s agenda. I’m so happy to have Mary-Ann Maldonado as a guest on my blog this weekend. Mary-Ann serves on the A Flair For Buttons DT with me, and I’m pretty sure that’s where we’ve met. She’s the sweetest, and on top of that also makes the most stunning layouts. I love her style.

Headshot Mary-Ann Maldonado

I am Mary-Ann Maldonado originally from Maine, now residing in Massachusetts.  I have followed my retired Marine around for 21 years, so we have lived in many extraordinary places.  I am a mama to my best friend (Roman), his best friend (Flo  the dog) and her best friend (Leroy – the cat).  I remember crafting with my mom as a small child.  Making our own holiday décor, personalized cards and macaroni art!   However, I started scrapbooking on my dining room table in 2000 and now I consume the entire house!  I was lucky to travel with The Button Farm for several years.  Scrapbooking pages are my passion but I love mini albums and cards too.  I am a hoarder of many things.  Antiques, paper and embellishments, but my undiagnosed OCD helps keep it all in order:o)  I have been an educator (for The Button Farm and locally) and designer for several years now and teach locally, run a KOTM and sell on ETSY.

Apart from the A Flair For Buttons DT, she also designs for me & my  BIG ideasFancy PantsPaper IssuesPaper Camellia, and The Rubber Cafe. That’s a lot of inspiration to indulge in;)

Where do you find inspiration? |  I find inspiration all over social media.  My favorite has to be Instagram.  After you have liked several things and IG determines what your likes are, under SEARCH, there is tons of inspiration that you may not have seen if you don’t follow a person.  IG highlights things for you specifically under SEARCH.  I love it.  I also love Pinterest.  Especially since it has also started showing you “Picked for you.”  I can also find inspiration in magazines and commercials, if you can  believe that!

Where do you create? | I have designated room just for scrapbooking. It is always evolving. About a year ago, it was photographed for Creative Spaces Vol. 3.  I was so very excited.

Here is the link to my blog post regarding the magazine. http://lumpbumpandclump.blogspot.com/2014/06/creative-spaces-vol-3-holla.html  It has changed a bit since then.  I am always looking for new innovative ways to sort things and make them easy to access.

Do you scrapbook on vacation? | Not as a rule.  I would be in divorce court for sure!   However, last year right  before our big family camping trip, I had surgery.  This made it so I had to stay behind for lots of the hiking activities.  I did bring scrappy stuff on that vacation because I was left alone for hours.  I actually created a mini album while they were  gone!  You can take a look at that here:  http://lumpbumpandclump.blogspot.com/2014/08/family-mini-album-part-duex.html  There is a picture to prove it at the end!

ABOUT MY LAYOUT:  I used Simple Stories Summer Vibe.   Random flair from Studio Calico and Felicity Jane.  Punches to to create embellishments.  I used a small punch to punch small paper and sticker circles to add around to help coordinate and fill empty spaces.
