I have the pleasure of introducing Katharina Frei to you as my Weekend Guest for this week. Katharina was on the Scrapperin design team with me a couple of years ago, and she has an amazing style and talent. So I took a little leap of joy, when she said ‘yes’ to my request for being one of my guests this summer. She’s got a beautiful layout to share.
Hi, my name is Katharina Frei. I was born in the beautiful city of Vienna / Austria, but moved to Switzerland 7 years ago. There, I not only found the love of my life, but also discovered my passion for paperart.
In 2007 I started my own blog and also my design team work for international companies. I wanted to have more control about how the stuff looked like, I created with, therefore I started to design my own stamps and metal dies. I founded my own company “Whiff of Joy” soon afterwards.
I am married and am the mom of 2 boys (7 and 9). My family means everything to me and I love to document our story with scrapbooking pages, albums, filefolders and more.
It is a huge pleasure for me to take part in Els’ 2015 weekend guest series!! Thank you so much for having me ♥

Where do you find inspiration? | On Instagram!! I check my feed multiple times a day and love to get inspired by the daily images other artists share.
Where do you create? | I am in the lucky position to call a large craft room my own. It is full of light and I love to spend my creative time in there.
Do you scrapbook on vacation? | Yes, actually I do! I love to take pre-made minialbums with me plus my Canon Selphie printer. I tend to print photos in the evening and add them to my album right away together with some journaling. I love to have a ready made album to show to family and friends right after we get home.
I created this scrapbooking page to honor my son’s friendship with a girl called Andrina, who will be living in the USA for the next 3 years. Most of the products I used are from Heidi Swapp. I am totally obsessed with her stuff 🙂
You might notice that I used “the square” as central geometric shape for this layout. Lots of squares on this page 🙂
For the background I used Heidi Swapp’s new artscreens. A super fun and detailed printing technique.
The main title of my page is “This is no goodbye”, which I spelled with clear letters. I also tried to arrange them in a square shape to match the other 3 squares. I created the custom round epoxy shape myself with my Epiphany craft tool – love these!!
I love to add tiny details to my scrapbooking pages. This gives a lot more interest and creates dimension.
Thank you for joining me today!
Wishing you a lovely weekend and lots of fun creating ♥
