The Weekend Guest | Jessy Christopher

The Weekend Guest
Hi there! Welcome to a new Weekend Guest post! And I’m so proud to introduce you to Jessy Christopher as this week’s guest designer here on my blog. It’s an absolute honor to have such a talented lady over. I’m always amazed by her beautiful soft color combos and her way of adding certain embellishments or design elements to her work. This lady can really make a page stand out. And this time is no exception.

Hello! I’m Jessy Christopher from Malaysia. Mixed parentage of Chinese, Indonesian & Dutch. I am married to a musician husband of 9 years now, whom I know since 7 years old. We have a 17 month old daughter named, Katelynn Zoey Tham. I love to take photographs and a huge fan of Instagram. I have been scrapping since end of 2007. I started off with digital & hybrid scrapbooking and finally ventured into paper scrapbooking in the early of 2008. What I love the most about scrapbooking is the freedom to express myself. I enjoy doing layouts & cards. Scrapbooking has become quite a passion and when I have any free time, it’s the first thing to do in my list! Currently, I am designing for Maggie Holmes Design & Jillibean Soup.

SCRAPBOOKING IN MALAYSIA | Scrapbooking is slowly getting popular in Malaysia. As years passed by, there are more & more Malaysians venturing into this hobby. And scrapbooking stores & online stores are blooming as well. Whenever I noticed a Malaysian being mentioned on scrapbook or craft blogs/articles, I am very happy to see to know that scrapbooking is going places in my country.

WHERE I FIND INSPIRATION | As far as what inspires me creatively… fashion, weather, photos, things around in the house and lots more! Basically, I get inspiration from lots of places!

WHERE I CREATE | In my creative lab. I’m blessed with a scrapbooking room.

SCRAPBOOKING ON VACATION |  I have not tried scrapbooking during any of my vacations. I should try someday!

Today I would like to share with you a simple tutorial on how I created the background for my layout.
For this layout, I used Maggie Holmes Flea Market 12×12 patterned paper called Tag Sale.

Scrappy info:
1. First, I cut out some of the tags from the patterned paper.
2. Then, I randomly positioned them on a piece of white cardstock. I also decided to layer a few pieces of vellum just to tone down the colours in order to have a subtle look.
3. Adhered all the pieces down. I also sewed only on the vellum pieces.
4. Once that is done, I used a wet wipe to dip into my gesso bottle. Gently dabbed the gesso onto the patterned paper & the vellum as well.
5. Lastly, I sprayed some mint green mist at the corners of the cardstock. And finished the look with some gold & navy blue mist splatters to create an arty look.

Once the medium is dried, I added the fabric frame in the middle and adhered two photos. You may embellish the layout with a frame, stickers & chipboards.
