While summer break is coming to an end in our part of the world, we’re fighting some nasty bugs in our house. Our little man has been sick all week. So we’ve been taking it really easy over the past few days. Luckily this also meant a little bit of time to scrap for me. I really wanted to play along with Crate Paper’s current Navy & Sequins Creative Weekly Challenge.
I had a completely different layout in mind, but when I came up in my scraproom, I found out I was out of navy cardstock. So I had to rethink my design. I love how this turned out eventually. At the top, there’s a piece of light blue ledger paper from the All About a Boy collection by Echo Paper. The chevrons underneath is from Crate Paper’s The Pier collection. I used my 6×6 paper pad and cut the chevrons in two, so I just needed this one piece of paper for the layout.
I used a few navy accents and sequins. I think the tone-on-tone effect is pretty cool, but to make it all a tad bit more interesting, I also used a small touch of pink. That way I’m resonating the pink of the title chipboard piece, which helps in incorporate in the overall design.
The picture was taken a few weeks back on an amazing trip to the beach. We couldn’t have wished for better weather that day, and the kids had a great day playing in the sand and water. They took like a dozen trips to the water with their buckets, getting ready to build a sand castle. Beautiful memories of a great summer.
Thanks for stopping by!
Els.
