Summer 2013 Album Part 1 | BasicGrey Capture

Geplaatst in: Basic Grey, scrapbooking 0

Happy Saturday!! I hope you’re having a great weekend so far. I wanted to share the first part of my Summer 2013 album with you today. Since this summer marks the end of our lifes as we know it here in our house, it felt a bit special. Special enough to document it in an album of its’ own. My last product box from BasicGrey had the amazing Capture collection inside, perfect for where I wanted to go with this album.

I’m far from up to date, but I decided not to stress about it at all. I’m not approaching this as a day by day or week by week kind of album, but I will add any pictures or events that feel important to us. I’m working with this Ledger Journaling Binder as a base. My cover is not finished yet, neither is my inside cover page. What I did want to share with you today, are my first few spreads, the ones about our family holiday back in June. I wanted this holiday to be part of this album.

Summer 2013 albumI mainly used divided page protectors from BasicGrey’s Capture collection for this part of my album. In the top pocket of my first page I used a piece of an add of the place we were going, and added some embellishments. Underneath, on the smaller strip of one of the Snippets, I stamped the June/’13 with BasicGrey’s Hello stamps and marked the dates of our holiday.

The first double page has a clear pocket in between with some important travel information. These pockets close with a bit of velcro, this one goes in the album with the binder rings.

The upper left pocket holds the first bit of real journaling from our trip, made with my old typewriter and cut down into strips. I added some stickers and vellum tape. That suitcase is just too adorable.

I love these small pockets, so many possibilities. The front of this page, shows some random pictures from fun moments throughout our holiday. The backside all show pictures from a trip to a local zoo. We took most of the pictures of our trip in that zoo, so it takes up an important piece of this part of the album.

On the right side of this spread, I chose to use a big picture of Tuur watching the camels. Down in the corner, a small cluster of embellishments.

So many beautiful elements in the Capture collection. For this pocket I used some Carte Postale paper and worked with Capture die-cuts on top.

For the lower pocket here, I adhered front and back insert together with some masking tape. This way I created a pocket to hold receipts and other small memorabilia from our trip. The smiley tab sticky note shows you to look in the pocket.

Why did nobody ever tell me this pocket scrapping thing is so hard? I sweated quite a bit on this album, but I think the end result is not too shabby. I still have to learn a lot, photographing these spreads might be one of them.

On another note, I just wanted to take a minute here to say ‘thank you’ for the many sweet responses you guys left me for my guest posting gig on Shimelle’s blog. (If you missed it, you can learn all about embracing the white space here.) And a big huge welcome to my new followers. It’s great to have all of you stopping by here!
