Project Life | Week 23

I’m awfully behind on sharing my Project Life spreads. (Well, I’m awfully behind on making them too, but that’s another story;)) So I was very delighted last week when the opportunity popped up to share one of my spreads on the Scrap365 blog. And since I would love to work in a somewhat chronological order, I chose my very first (and to me my very favorite yet) Project Life spread to share over there.

As you might remember I only started this project in June. So week 23 is where it all begins. My weeks go from Mondays to Sundays, but since June 1st happened to be a Sunday, I decided to add it to my first week too. Then I officially started this project on June 1st. June is also when I first purchased a Studio Calico Project Life kit, and that’s what I mainly used for this first spread. In the meantime I have subscribed to the kit, and I have to be honest, so far I’m loving it.

I was totally in love with these watercolor PL cards from that first Studio Calico kit. I glued down that beautiful wood veneer June, and added some stamping. For each of my weeks, I intend on adding the range of dates with a roller stamp.

The everyday small things in life have always been present in my scrapbooking. And definitely in my Project Life there has got to be room for the small things that give color to our lives, like my freshly blooming peonies or the sandbox that’s brought out again.

CAS is usually my way to go in papercrafting, and so it is for this project too. Keeping things simple also helps me staying stress-free with Project Life, and helps me keeping the process as little time-consuming as possible. I picked out a few standard sizes for my photos, and all journaling is handwritten for that reason. For this yellow polka dotted journaling card, I used a piece of patterned paper. The ‘hello’ frame is stamped, I found that one in my Freckled Fawn Oh Deer Me embellishment kit of June.

On Friday that first week of June, we left for a little weekend trip, and so this filled up my spread pretty quickly. There were plenty of stories to tell. This entire right spread is from that trip.

The top left card shows an Instagram picture my husband made while strolling through a nearby town. The ‘road trip’ vellum ticket from Freckled Fawn worked so well with this scene, as did the skyline flair from the Studio Calico kit.

Most of my stamping throughout this album will be in black StazOn, again because of the simple and fast aspect. I don’t have too many good inks, and having to go searching for the right one, doesn’t seem appealing to me when working on my Project Life album. Also StazOn allows me to stamp on my pictures, which gives a very cool look at times.

So, this sums up my first Project Life spread. Don’t hesitate to let me know what you think, or what more you would like me to talk about in regard of this project. Thanks for stopping by!

Els.

PS: Since these Project Life spreads are often made with little bits and pieces found here and there in my pile of stash, I’m not going to write down a list of supplies for these posts. If you have a question about any of the elements I used, you can leave it in the comments section below, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
