Simpele kaarten maken… ik ben er niet echt goed in. Misschien wel simpel in het niet te ingewikkeld maken, maar ik bedoel meer de stijl. Soms is het net of ik bang ben voor wit. Ik probeer het wel, maar ik voeg toch vaak wat kleur toe. Of goud. Of glitter. – Making simple cards…. I’m not really good at it. Maybe simple in the sense that it’s not too complicated, but I mean the style. Sometimes I think I’m afraid of white space. I do try, but often I add some colour later. Or gold. Or glitter.

Vandaag heb ik geprobeerd me in te houden. Ik bewonder mensen die prachtige ‘clean and simple’ kaarten kunnen maken. Dus ik doe ook een poging. Ik begon met een stuk aquarelpapier. Daar stempelde ik met embossingpoeder een aantal huisjes en de boom uit de ‘Huisje, boompje’ set op, en emboste ze in goud. Ik deed dit huisje voor huisje. Ik had al op masking papier de huisjes gestempeld en ze uitgeknipt, zodat ik de huisjes kon laten ‘overlappen’. Ik vind dit een hele leuke techniek, maar gebruik ‘m niet zo vaak. – Today I tried to hold back. I admire people who can make gorgeous clean and simple cards. So I’m trying this too! I started with a piece of watercolour paper. On this I stamped several houses and a tree from the ‘Huisje, boompje’/’Little house, little tree’ set, with embossing ink, and I embossed them in gold. I did it one house at the time. Previously I stamped the houses onto masking paper and cut them out, so I could put one house in front of the other. I really like this technique, but don’t use it very often.

De tekst komt uit de set ‘Nieuw huis’. Ook dit emboste ik in goud. Ik kleurde één huisje in met waterverf stiften, dit zorgt voor een mooi contrast met de andere huisjes. Tja, en toen was ik klaar. Ik plakte het geheel eerst op een witte basiskaart, maar dat kon ik echt niet zo laten. Dat was me toch te wit. Dus deed ik er nog een rozerood stuk papier achter, en zo kon het naar mijn idee wel. Wat denken jullie? Te simpel? Missen jullie kleur? Of is het wel mooi elegant zo? Aan de stempelset ligt het in ieder geval niet, haha. – The sentiment is from the set ‘Nieuw huis’/’New home’. I also embossed this in gold. I coloured one of the little houses using watercolour markers, I think it creates a nice contrast with the rest of the houses. And then… I was finished. I glued it onto a white basecard, but I couldn’t leave it like that. That was a little too white for my taste. So I matted it onto a piece of cherry red paper, and this worked better for me. What do you think? Too simple? Do you miss colour? Or is it elegant like this? At least I know it’s not the stamp set’s fault, haha.
