This month the design team over on the
myStamp BOX blog was challenged to make some school related projects. I made this patterned paper free layout with a picture of Nora’s first day of school. She wasn’t to happy to start school again, even though she absolutely loves going. The excitement of a new teacher, a new class room, new class mates, etc. was too big for her. Once started she was fine. *
Deze maand werd het design team op het blog van myStamp BOX uitgedaagd om enkele projecten met een schools thema te maken. Ik maakte deze dessinpapier-vrije layout met een foto van Nora’s eerste schooldag. Ze was er niet helemaal klaar voor om al opnieuw te beginnen, ook al gaat ze heel graag naar school. De spanning van een nieuwe juf, een nieuwe klas, nieuwe klasgenootjes, enz. was een beetje te groot voor haar. Eénmaal gestart vond ze het echter fijn.
I broke out my soft pastels again for this page. This is one of the first techniques I learned in a workshop of a local store, when I started stamping many years ago. Basically I mounted a row of the
Royal Flush alphabet set by myStamp BOX onto an acrylic bloc and stamped onto my page with Versamark. I then applied some of the dust of the pastels onto the stamped letters. You can do this with a dry paintbrush, but you can also rub it over with your fingers, which I did eventually. This gives a more distinct image. I sealed this layer with fixative. *
Ik gebruikte nog een keertje mijn zachte pastels voor deze pagina. Dit is één van de eerste technieken, die ik leerde in een workshop, toen ik velen jaren geleden aan stempelen begon. Ik zette een rij letterstempels van de Royal Flush set van myStamp BOX op een acrylblok en stempelde ze met Versamark op mijn pagina. Daar bracht ik wat stof van mijn pastels over aan. Je kan dit doen met een verfborstel, maar je kan het ook met je vingers aanbrengen, wat ik uiteindelijk deed. Dit geeft meer uitgesproken kleuren. Tenslotte fixeerde ik deze laag vooraleer verder te werken aan mijn layout.
I also used some stamps of the
Pixel Perfect stamp set by myStamp BOX again. This is becoming my go-to stamp set these days. I stamped the polaroid frame in grey pigment ink and trimmed it out. The middle part has some vellum to soften the background. *
Ik gebruikte opnieuw ook een aantal stempels van de Pixel Perfect set van myStamp BOX. Dit begint zowat mijn meest gebruikte set te worden. Ik stempelde het polaroid frame met grijze pigment inkt en knipte het uit. Het middenluik bekleefde ik met een stukje vellum om de achtergrond wat te vervagen.
I worked with a rainbow of colors to mimic the colors of the summer curtain in the background of the picture. For the title I used some Amy Tangerine Goodness Thickers. *
Ik werkte met een regenboog aan kleuren om het insectengordijn op de achtergrond van de foto te herhalen. Voor de titel gebruikte ik Amy Tangerine Goodness Thickers.

I’ve never worked with pan pastels but the effect is so beautiful and that photo of Nora is indeed precious. Hope she was off to a great start!
