Past Friday I was up on the A Flair For Buttons blog, as I said here before, with one of my favorite layouts from the past few weeks. Not sure why this is a favorite, I think it’s a combination of things. Anyways, this is a collections of things, design elements, and techniques I love lately. Couldn’t go wrong in my book.
I had come across this fabulous free cut file, designed by the talented Jessy Christopher – you can download it here if you like – and just had to cut and play with it immediately. If you compare Jessy’s and my layout, you can see that I shrunk the file a bit, and placed it a bit more centered to my page, so I could have a white border around it.
I backed the white background up with some stunning emerald green paper patterned paper from Studio Tekturek’s new One Way Ticket collection. Before adhering it down, I traced some of the XO’s with pencil and stuck some American Crafts glitter tape to the green paper where the marks were, to make some of them pop out.
With that as my basis, I then started pulling out a bunch of green and gold embellishments. The vellum shapes pack from Maggie Holmes’ Styleboard collection came in very handy here. The label sticker is also from Studio Tekturek’s One Way Ticket collection – love that there are other elements popping up in their collections besides the papers. The chalkboard flair matched perfectly in text and design. (And yes, I know, I have to change the blade on my Silhouette – tried to touch up as good as possible;)).
For a change this layout is not about my kids. That’s a new trend in my work, that I try to incorporate ‘me’ in our albums too. Not easy, as you can see, I’m still very camera shy. But at the same time, I also love making these ayouts, which can be a bit more ‘grown up’ than the other ones. The title is also a free cutfile I came across on Pinterest. The handwriting is beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by again! Have a great day!
Els.
