Looking back

At the end of the year, I can’t help looking back to what 2011 has brought. It’s been an amazing year, if I look at it on a purely personal note. I’ve done things I could have never imagined at the beginning of the year. Some good things happened. 2011 was not all roses and sunshine, of course, but I feel blessed. * Bij het einde van het jaar kan ik het niet helpen om toch eventjes achterom te kijken naar wat 2011 ons heeft gebracht. Het is een fantastisch jaar geweest, als ik het meer persoonlijk bekijk. Ik deed dit jaar dingen, die ik nooit voor mogelijk had geacht begin het jaar. 2011 was natuurlijk niet allemaal rozengeur en maneschijn, natuurlijk, maar het was een goed jaar.

Since I started this blog, I always write down some resolutions (if you want to call them that) at the start of a new year. Some goals I set for myself, nothing big. When I first started blogging, my goal was to keep on creating and blogging about it, mostly to avoid that I would drop out. Having this blog has helped me to make time for my hobby on a regular base. Then when I took part in challenges, my goals turned to trying to win some challenges. Making sure that each year also mentioned to have fun, allow myself to experiment and use my supplies (I’m a terrible hoarder – smile). * Sinds ik met dit blog van start ging, schrijf ik bij het begin van het nieuwe jaar altijd wat voornemens neer. Een aantal doelen die ik mezelf stel. Toen ik pas gestart was, was mijn doel om te blijven dingen maken en erover te bloggen, grotendeels om te voorkomen dat dit blog terug zou stoppen. Dit blog heeft me geholpen om frequenter eens wat meer tijd vrij te maken voor mijn hobby. Toen ik meer aan challenges begon deel te nemen, luidden de voornemens om er ook eentje te proberen winnen. Ieder jaar zorgde ik er ook wel voor om er bij te schrijven dat dit vooral voor mijn plezier was, dat ik mocht experimenteren, en dat ik mijn spullen mocht gebruikten (ik ben een echte verzamelaar – smile).

Last year’s resolutions were aiming low. Being 7.5 months pregnant, I didn’t think to accomplish much in 2011. I did have a design team membership or maybe getting published with a card in the back of my head. Never thought I would be able to say I did both at the end of 2011. * Vorige jaar mikten de voornemens bijzonder laag. Ik was toen 7.5 maand zwanger, ik dacht niet dat ik veel zou kunnen verwezenlijken in 2011. Hoewel ik toen wel al een plaatsje in een design team of een kaart in een tijdschrift in mijn achterhoofd had. Ik had nooit gedacht dat ik aan het einde van het jaar zou kunnen zeggen dat ik het beide deed.

Today the myStamp BOX design team showcases a bunch of New Year’s projects. I made this layout, … looking back. * Vandaag toont het design team van myStamp BOX een aantal nieuwjaarsprojecten. Ik maakte deze layout … looking back.

On this layout I gathered a few pictures of important moments during the past year. The birth of Tuur, of course, needed a spot. A picture of myself, something that is really rare. I always seem to be able to avoid the camera – ha. I finally started scrapping for real this year, so one of my favorite layouts from the past year is on there too. And then last but not least, a picture of my first product box from Basic Grey and one of my first myStamp BOX projects. * Ik verzamelde een aantal veelbetekenende momenten van het voorbije jaar op deze layout. De geboorte van Tuur moest natuurlijk een plaatsje krijgen. Een foto van mezelf, een zeldzaamheid. Ik weet precies altijd de camera te ontvluchten – ha. Ik ging eindelijk eens echt scrapbooken, dus één van mijn favoriete layouts van het voorbije jaar is er ook bij. En dan tenslotte mijn eerste productdoos van Basic Grey en één van mijn eerste projecten voor myStamp BOX.

I stamped one of the Road Trip stamps in blue onto the doily, and layered an American Crafts sticker on top of that. * Ik stempelde één van de Road trip stempels in blauw op de onderlegger, en kleefde daar een American Crafts sticker bovenop.

The borders at the top and the bottom of the page are made with leftover from projects I made during the last year. I have this jar on my desk, in which I throw little leftover pieces of patterned paper. It seemed like a fun feature to have some of those coming back on this review layout. * De randen boven- en onderaan zijn gemaakt met overschotjes dessinpapier van projecten van het voorbije jaar. Ik heb een potje op mijn bureau staan, waar ik mijn kleine overschotjes in gooi. Het leek me leuk om die op deze layout te gebruiken.

In the middle of the page there’s some subtle background stamping, made with a border stamp from mSB’s Repeat after Me set. * In het midden van de pagina stempelde ik een subtiele achtergrond met een randstempel van mSB’s Repeat after Me set.

The title is stamped with the Royal Flush alpha set onto white cardstock, trimmed out and adhered to the page. * De titel stempelde ik met de Royal Flush alfabet set op wit cardstock, knipte hem uit en kleefde hem op mijn layout.
