Libby’s Tour de Craft

Geplaatst in: Uncategorized 0

Today I’m a guest over on Libby Hickson’s blog. In case you don’t know her, Libby is a very talented paper crafter, with a passion for cycling. And with the start of the Tour de France past weekend, she decided to have a French/cycling themed craft tour on her blog for the duration of the Tour. Since I’m fan of cycling too, although not as passionate as Libby, she asked me to do a guest post for her blog. I didn’t hesitate one second when Libby asked me to take part in her event.

I have two cards to share today. I pulled out my Vanilla Sunshine collection pack by SEI for those cute little bikes on one of the papers. Not really the racing type, hence the retirement sentiments, but nonetheless good card material. I trimmed out a bunch of the bikes and got to work.

I ended up with two very soft toned CAS cards, the SEI paper is fabulous. I’ve never been a big fan of SEI in the past, but I think I have to review my thoughts perhaps. The sentiment on both of the cards is from Wplus9’s Fish More set.

Tour de France 2For the second card, I used a line from a journaling stamp to stamp a bit of a trail behind the bikes. It makes it look as if they’re moving. I love the tone-on-tone look of this card. The baker’s twine on both cards is gold, unfortunately that doesn’t show very well on these pictures.

I remember watching the Tour (and other cycling races as well, but for some reason the tour is what I remember most of) as a little kid with my family. Living in Belgium, we even got a chance to see the circus in real life a couple of times. Definitely an experience. Since we were on summer break, we usually watched all the stages. Cyclists climbing those mountains, dripping sweat, open shirts, pouring water over their heads. And then flying downhill, zippers closing, taking in some much needed fluids and food. The way they swirled through the mountains on their way down. I was impressed, to say the least. We watched the Tour year after year after year. Even now, my husband and I try to see as much of the Tour as possible. Nostalgia for a big part, but I still love the Tour a lot. Are you a fan?

Els.
