Happy Tuesday!! Today my husband and I are celebrating 9 years of marriage. Can you believe that? I know I can’t. Life’s going by in a flash when you’re not paying attention. So I had to make him a card for the occasion. I love the sentiment from the Sketchy Cities America set by Altenew, and that’s where I started with this card.
I’m very much into light blues these days, and I thought I had to add some wood veneer to the combo to add to the masculine touch. The background patterned paper, which I found in last month’s Studio Calico card kit, is from Dear Lizzy. The woodgrain label is a free printable from Kaitlin Shaeffer. I came accross them a while back on Pinterest.
Throwing that hot pink on top probably wasn’t the best idea to enhance the masculinity of it all. Let’s just say I ended up with a neutral card;) I tried adding more neutrals and woodgrain in stead, but that made the card lifeless. So I went for a pop of color, and this one just seemed to match best in my book.
I die-cut the tiny hearts with a die from an older Studio Calico kit. I just love the size of that heart, definitely for cards. Both hearts are on dimensional adhesive so they draw your attention. The trace is hand-sewn. I first punched all the wholes with a paper piercer, carefully not to tear the paper. I used ordinary machine sticthing thread, but doubled it to make the trace a bit thicker.
The wood veneer plane wasn’t initially planned to go on this card. But through the proces of looking for more woodgrain items, I pulled it out, layed it on the card, and loved the effect. So the plane stayed.
Thanks for stopping by!
Els.
